YOUR WEATHER DATA DISPLAY CAPABILITY IS NOTHING TO SNEEZE AT

It’s spring in the Northern Hemisphere and while the majority of the population can look forward to warmer temperatures, in parts of the world, particularly in North America and Northern Europe, an increasing number of people are reporting various degrees of allergic reaction to pollen. Antihistamines are providing relief for most people with mild to moderate symptoms but for a rising number, pollen triggers severe allergic reactions and asthma. And, while no one is served by scare tactic information, a recent study from scientists in the Netherlands* indicates a correlation between high pollen counts* and fatalities from other diseases such as chronic heart and respiratory disease.

So, what does pollen count numbers in spring have to do with a broadcaster’s choice of data display capability and weather graphics system? Providing compelling graphics and dynamic animations based on real data helps the viewers understand the situation and enables them to make informed and healthy choices with regards to medication and planning.

For broadcasters, creating great looking graphics that support storytelling for issues that are relevant to viewers can result in increased credibility, loyalty and revenue –  and the broadcaster’s advertising sales department will most definitely appreciate the resulting boost in sales. In fact, weather and healthcare related advertising time, separately and even more so when combined, are extremely high value commodities within the general broadcasting segment.
